Sparkleshinylove is a lifestyle blog for hip urban moms. My name is Mandy and I’m from Whitby, Ontario Canada. I’m a fab mom to a toddler, a pretty ok wife, and on the side I’m a blogger, fashionista, world traveller, food enthusiast, and occasional DIY maven.  I’m often accused of being a shopaholic as well, but I wouldn’t say that’s a bad thing.

Every spring it’s exciting to see which new colour palettes and trends move from the fashion runways into home décor and interior style.

Freshening up your home can mean adding a few items to reflect a change in trends, or just a change in colours to match the new season.   A trend that I’m always on board with is nautical, especially when it’s done right.  Once I saw the nautical accents trend pop up in spring and summer style runway, I was excited to see it translate into home décor.

I’ve been looking for inspiration for a hallways remodel we have been doing in our home, and I fell in love with the nautical inspired pieces from Urban Barn which recently hit stores and online.

I started off with a white Benedict Accent Table, and since I picked up the table in white I had a clean slate to decorate my space.

My décor project started with the Sea to Sky Toss pillow. It practically spelled out my inspiration!

I picked up the Chamblay Crate in Large to add a few throw pillows (including the Ancho Bay Toss Pillow), and the best part about this crate is I can change out the pillows each season if my mood or style changes over time.

I needed a bit of height on my table, so I picked up two complementary vases including the Lattice Vase, and the Cecily Lattice Vase. Many of the vases at Urban Barn have two sizes for each style, but I liked the idea of mixing and matching.

I love adding books to my décor, and the Conch Book Box was perfect because it fit with the nautical décor, and it’s the perfect spot for extra storage as well since it’s hollow.  I layered it with the Ashworth Frame in grey/white, a frame I also have downstairs already!

This little corner now has a little bit of life, and is on-trend for spring with a nautical flair!

  1. In the photo it shows a half size table however the BENEDICT table available on the website is a full diameter table.

Help?! I want to purchase the one in the blog!
