Design vision
A live-work space for a couple in creative fields, this multipurpose space is the setting for everything from watching movies to working from home and taking meetings. It needed to be comfortable enough for friends, sophisticated enough for clients and practical enough for everyday living.
Get comfortable
First on the wish list: a really comfortable sofa. Made with ultra-deep seats and layered back cushions, our Nixon Sofa more than fits the description. Tailored arms and mid-century wood legs keep Nixon from looking too casual, making it the perfect choice for a living space that's used for business too. For stylish seating that adds flexibility to the loft, our Coleman Armchair comes with wood details, channel tufting and subtle mid-century influence that feels right at home next to Nixon.
Make room
You thought dressers were only for the bedroom? In a stroke of genius by stylist Reiko Caron, our Houston Dresser becomes the perfect storage piece for this loft space. Drawers offer complete privacy for hiding office supplies, and the low surface adds a place to lean artwork and style a vignette with vases, statues and decorative bowls. For even more storage, our Attenborough Media Unit has a mix of drawers and open shelving, plus plenty of room for the TV and more decorative objects.
Working with original floors in a warm wood tone and the dramatic feature wall, our Levy Area Rug was the perfect pick to tie it all together. When in doubt, size up! This large area rug anchors the furniture and warms up the room with its vintage-inspired pattern. Continuing the colour palette throughout the room are plenty of accent pillows and throws in shades of blue and warm tones like caramel, gold and ivory.
For a modern workstation in a modern space, our Axl Desk is strategically placed behind the sofa. With a slim profile and light frame, this small space desk fits just about anywhere, but the higher glass shelf makes it an especially good option for a desk that doubles as a sofa table. Instead of a traditional office chair, our Emmory Dining Chair keeps it versatile with a slim metal frame and comfortable faux leather that looks good in any corner of the room.
Filling out the space with a hint of greenery, our Faux Fiddle Leaf Trees are the ultimate plant solution for low-light spaces, busy homes or anyone with a black thumb. Showing off artful shapes and contrasting textures, the dresser and coffee table make room for metal statues and speckled ceramics. The final reveal is a comfortable, sophisticated space where this creative couple can feel right at home.
